Mr. and Mrs. Richard Conser celebrate golden anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Conser of New Garden recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a dinner party at the Hart Mansion in Minerva. The festivities were hosted by their daughter, Beth (Conser) Pottschmidt, her husband Steven, and children Ava and Nicholas. Joining in the celebration were other family members and friends.

The former Phyllis Riffle, daughter of the late Wanda Riffle Peroz and James Riffle Sr., and Mr. Conser, son of the late Celesta and Chester Conser, were married on April 20, 1963, at the Centenary Methodist Church in East Palestine. The Rev. Thomas Hammerton officiated.

Mr. Conser served with the US Army from 1957 to 1959 stationed in Bamberg, Germany. Following an honorable discharge, he returned to his prior employment with Columbia Gas of Ohio where he retired in 1989 after 37 years of service. He is a member of the New Lisbon Masonic Lodge.

Mrs. Conser is a homemaker and serves as chairman of the board of the New Garden United Methodist Church. She is a past matron of the Salem Chapter #334 Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of Kate DeWees.
