Mr. and Mrs. Homer Huprich to mark golden anniversary
Homer and Gerrie Huprich of 1211 Slater Road, Salem will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at an open house from 2 to 5 p.m. June 22 at the Italian American Club. The festivities will be hosted by their family.
The former Gerrie (Geraldine) Glossen and Mr. Huprich were married on June 20, 1964, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Massillon.
Mrs. Huprich worked at Massillon Community Hospital before their children were born. She worked again after their children were in high school at the Gas Lite Villa in Canal Fulton, until moving to Salem.
Mr. Huprich worked for Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. in Akron, Buenos Aires, Argentina and Mexico City, Mexico. He worked briefly for Ho-Med Services, and then he joined the Crane Deming Pump Company in 1981 where he worked in various capacities and retired as the plant controller in 2005 with the plant closing.
The Huprichs moved to Salem in 1988. They have two daughters, Lee Ann and husband Alan Firestone of Alliance, and Lynne and husband Donald Gerry of Canal Fulton.
Mr. Huprich is on the parish council of St. Paul Church and active in various ministries. He also is a member of United Commercial Travelers Salem Council 590, Winona Ruritans and the Italian American Club.
