Chappells celebrate 50th anniversary

Ned and Sally Chappell of Salem were honored on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary at a private family dinner party on Feb. 8.

The former Sally Snowball and Mr. Chappell were married on July 5, 1964, at the First United Methodist Church in Massillon.

Mrs. Chappell’s father, the Rev. William Snowball, officiated at the couple’s ceremony.

Mr. and Mrs. Chappell are members of the First United Methodist Church in Salem where she serves on several committees.

Mr. Chappell was the owner-operator of Chappell and Zimmerman, retiring after 35 years. He is a member of Elks Lodge #305 of Salem. He is on the board at Kent State University in Salem and treasurer of Columbiana County Builders Association.

Mrs. Chappell is a retired school teacher. She is a board member of Kent State University and Copeland Oaks in Sebring.

The Chappells have two sons and a daughter-in-law, Shawn Chappell and Chris (Elizabeth) Chappell, all of Salem, and three grandchildren, Shawn Jr., Chloe and Christian.
