Coverts feted for golden anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Covert of 837 W. Pidgeon Road, Salem, were honored on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary. A cake reception was held, similar to their original reception with exactly 50 guests at 2:30 p.m. March 18 at St. Jacob’s Church.
The former Velma M. Brinker and Mr. Covert were married on March 18, 1967, at the church. The Rev. William Ring officiated.
The Coverts are members of the church. They have two children, Thomas Covert Jr. and Jennifer Covert Lippiatt; and two grandchildren, Cameron and Emma.
Mr. Covert is a 1955 graduate of Salem High School and a past exalted ruler of Elks Lodge #305. He retired in 2000 from the Salem Label Co.
Mrs. Covert retired in 1998. She had been employed at the Bacon and Cibula Clinic, Lisbon Medical Center and Salem Home Health Care. She is a member of Elks Lodge #305 Ladies Auxiliary.
The reception was hosted by Bryan and Jennifer Lippiatt.
In addition to the couple’s original guest book, wedding dress and photo album at the reception, Mrs. Covert was presented with a bouquet of white roses, pink carnations and white mums, similar to her original wedding bouquet.
