Open house set for ‘Skip’ Buttermore’s birthday

BELOIT–A 90th birthday celebration open house for Paul “Skip” Buttermore will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 27 at Westville Lake Golf Course, 858 Case Road, Beloit.

Paul was born on Aug. 27, 1927, to Paul Buttermore Sr. and Florence Lee Buttermore.

On Dec. 23, 1945, he married his high school sweetheart, the former Elise Steer. They will celebrate their 72nd wedding anniversary in December. Together they raised two children, Paula (Wartuft) and Jim Buttermore. In addition to his children and their spouses, he has five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and his Damascus United Methodist Church family.

He spent most of his working career at Transue and Williams in the die room. No one is quite sure of his “official” retirement date as he seemed to never lose ties over the years. You can still find him in the machine shop behind his home.

The family request no gifts, but bring a memory to share.
