Dr. Lee joins panel of physicians with SRMC’s Wound Healing Center

SALEM — William S. Lee, M.D., FACS, a board-certified general surgeon affiliated with Salem Regional Medical Center’s (SRMC) medical staff, has joined the panel of physicians at SRMC’s Wound Healing Center. Dr. Lee has completed advanced training in wound care and will be using this expertise to treat patients at the center, which offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy and other state-of-the-art treatments for people with acute, chronic or non-healing wounds.

“We’re pleased to welcome Dr. Lee to our experienced team of physicians and nurses, who specialize in using the latest wound healing techniques to help our patients regain their quality of life,” said Dawn Thomas, RN, BSN, Wound Healing Center program director.

A member of the American Medical Association and Ohio State Medical Association, Dr. Lee is Board-Certified by the American Board of Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

In addition to his role at the Wound Healing Center, he provides a full range of advanced surgical procedures and endoscopy services as a general surgeon with Salem General Surgery.

Established in 2012, SRMC’s Wound Healing Center is nationally-recognized as a “Center of Excellence” and “Center of Distinction” by Healogics, Inc. for its continued clinical excellence in wound healing and superior patient satisfaction rates.

Some of the conditions treated at the center include diabetic, venous/arterial and pressure ulcers; osteomyelitis; radionecrosis; infections; compromised skin grafts and flaps; insect bites; thermal burns; and wounds that have not healed in 30 days.

Local agency owner designated as an Allstate Premier Agency

Dr. Brown honored by Ohio Optometric Association for serving community

SALEM — The Ohio Optometric Association has announced the recipients of the 2017 Ohio Vision Project (OVP) Student Loan Repayment Program. A total of $25,000 will be dispersed in differing amounts to the 16 award winners, who were determined by a blind scoring methodology. The local 2017 OVP Student Loan Repayment Program award winner is Dr. Rebecca Brown of Salem.

The goal of the OVP Student Loan Repayment program is to assist doctors of optometry, who work to serve their communities and aid patients most in need of vision assistance, with student loan repayment assistance.

All 2017 award-winning applicants provide care to Medicaid patients, and they work in areas where medical care is limited. The majority also volunteer in local schools presenting Realeyes or participating in iSee events and other volunteer care programs.
