SALEM–Essex of Salem I Skilled Nursing Facility (an Atrium Living Centers Facility) has been honored by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for the hard work and dedication by the facility staff through the annual survey process for calendar year 2017. A deficiency free survey is considered to be one of the highest achievements a facility can receive ensuring compliance with the VA Standards of Care.

In addition to the Deficiency Free VA Survey, Essex of Salem I also achieved a Deficiency Free Annual CMS State Survey.

Every year the Ohio Department of Public Health conducts a survey of all licensed nursing homes in Ohio. During the first week of October 2017 the state surveyors looked at all aspects of care at Essex of Salem I and found the facility to be in perfect compliance with all federal and state rules and regulations. This is a very comprehensive survey. The state inspectors/surveyors tour the nursing home and meet with key facility staff members. They also meet with residents as well as the resident council and talk with them about their care and the quality of life in the home. State surveyors also review medical records and assess the overall condition of the physical structure, fire safety and much more.

Tony Maroni, administrator of Essex of Salem I, said he is thankful for the hard work and dedicated service of his staff for their perfect score with no deficiencies.
