SR BOE approves bid for building at complex site
BEAVER TOWNSHIP- The South Range Local school board Monday night approved a bid for construction of a new administration building at the athletic complex site.
The board accepted and approved a bid of $205,900 from Cornice Construction to build the 2,000-square-foot, one-story facility that will house the board offices. It will be built to the northeast of the farmhouse housing the current offices near the athletic complex across state Route 46 from the K-12 campus. The project is being funded through the money received from the sale of the old administration building in North Lima.
The board last month rejected the only bid it received for the project after it was more costly than the district could afford. The board received three qualified bids for the project after the bid package was modified and re-bid.
Recognitions: Schools Superintendent Dennis Dunham recognized students Seb Calvin, Kent Hilterbrand and Parker Winkel for attaining the Eagle Scout rank with Boy Scout Troop 80 in North Lima.
He also honored the school board as part of School Board Recognition Month, paying respect to the hard work and commitment the board members make to the district, particularly the past five years with the construction of the K-12 campus in which they have met 122 times.
Organizational meeting: In its organizational meeting Monday night, the board named John Fromel as president and Jeff Good as vice president, as well as retained a meeting schedule of 7:30 p.m. the third Monday of each month in the high school Band Room.
The next regular board meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Feb. 18 in the high school Band Room.
