WB board reorganizes

BELOIT- The West Branch school board elected a new president at its organizational meeting Thursday night. The board named John Wallace as president. He has served on the board for the past 20 years. The board also named Lori McLaughlin as vice president.

In other business, the board kept its meeting schedule of 7:30 p.m. the last Thursday of each month in the high school Library and retained the law firms of Squire, Sanders & Dempsey and Roetzel and Andress as independent legal counsel in educational matters on an as needed basis.

The board also appointed members to the following positions and committees for 2013: Legislative Liaison, Earl Trimmer and Mikki Kanagy; Student Achievement Liaison, Wallace and Kanagy; Athletic Committee, Terry Criss and Trimmer; Mahoning County Career and Technical Center, McLaughlin and Criss; Free and Reduced Lunch Program Hearing Officer ( for remainder of 2012-13 school year), Kanagy; Technology, Trimmer and McLaughlin; and Buildings and Grounds Committee, Wallace and Criss.

The next regular board meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Jan. 31 in the high school Library.
