Break-ins at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Leetonia investigated

LEETONIA- Police are investigating two break-ins at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church within the past two months.

Police Chief John Soldano said that someone broke into the old school building at the Main Street church Friday evening. The department was already investigating a break-in at the building about six weeks earlier when an intruder broke out a window, he said.

Soldano said the building houses a small office as well as rooms for the Knights of Columbus and other church organizations. He noted that since some of the organizations were storing donations, it is unknown how much if anything had been removed. A member of the church administration did report on Monday, though, that several items had been taken from a refrigerator in the kitchen, he said.

Soldano said there are currently no leads on a suspect, but that the department takes the action seriously. “We’re definitely looking into it,” he said. “You don’t want this kind of thing happening.”

Anyone with information about the break-ins is encouraged to call the department at 330-427-6731.
