Salem High NHS hosting Banquet in Salem

The Salem High School Chapter of National Honor Society and the Spanish Club will host the Banquet in Salem from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Memorial Building. “We have been doing the Banquet for many years now. It is important for our students to learn the lesson of continually giving back to one’s community” said Robert Viencek, N.H.S. advisor. Lindsay Barth, a member of N.H.S., is one of the co-chairmen for the event. “Our students are working diligently to make this dinner a special one,” she said. J.R. Straley, director of food services for Salem City Schools, will prepare tomato soup, barbecue ribs, homemade macaroni and cheese, tropical fruit salad, green beans, fresh fruit and vegetables and assorted desserts. The Spanish Club will have four co-chairmen for the dinner: Emma Wilson, Camrin Costal, Cassie Wood and Hannah Carner. “I didn’t realize how much planning and work is involved in the Banquet of Salem. Our club is excited about this dinner,” said Wilson. He too is a valuable volunteer in the community.” (Submitted photo)
