Eggstravaganza brings hundreds to Realife Church

SALEM – Hundreds of area children and their families braved the cold temperatures and impending winter storm Sunday to enjoy an early Easter at Realife Church.

The church hosted its annual Easter Eggstravaganza, featuring 18,000 candy filled eggs and prizes including a Samsung tablet, a bicycle and a Kindle Fire. The free family event included music and games before the egg collections and ice cream following, as well as photos with Mr. and Mrs. Bunny. More than 800 children were expected to participate, according to organizers.

Made possible through donations from community businesses and individuals in addition to the church, the event serves as a community outreach ministry, said Co-pastor Sarah Vickery.

“We want to do something each season to reach out and share our love,” she said. “We look to bless those families that might not have it this Easter.”

The event also offers a chance to promote the Easter season, Vickery said.

“It’s an opportunity to reflect upon the Passion Week, Jesus’ death and resurrection,” she said.

The event was presented by the church’s children’s ministry under Children’s Pastor Ken Sevacko.
