Green trustees OK Egypt Road well use deal
GREENFORD- The Green Township trustees Thursday night conditionally approved a road use maintenance agreement with Chesapeake for a portion of Egypt Road.
The trustees approved the agreement for four-tenths of a mile of the roadway south of state Route 14 that will be used to access a well scheduled to be drilled on Butcher Road in Salem Township. The RUMA is dependent on a $100,000 bond.
The roadway is tentatively scheduled to be resurfaced in June, with the building pad constructed in late June-early July and the well drilled late July-early August.
In other business, the trustees granted permission to Boy Scout Troop 80 of North Lima to use the log cabin behind the library and the equipment shed at the fire hall that had been used by the Greenford troop that folded a few years ago. A representative from the troop said that the troop is incorporating the Greenford troop’s assets and hope to increase their presence in the Greenford area. He said the Greenford troop may be started again at some point.
The trustees also passed a resolution requiring the intersections and ditches on township roads to be mowed three times each year- the first by Memorial Day, second by July 4 and third by Labor Day; and approved changes to the Zoning Resolution including no signs placed closer than 1,200 feet from a residential district ( a change of 1,000 feet) and no closer than 1,000 from a publicly owned or maintained land (a change of 500 feet), as well as a regulation on wind turbines and towers.
Also at the meeting, Goshen Police Chief Steve McDaniel warned residents about vehicle break-ins targeting unlocked vehicles that increase with the warmer weather.
Fire Chief Todd Baird reported receiving a $5,122 grant from the state fire marshal’s office for training.
