Leetonia Council to accept bids for pizzeria building

LEETONIA- Village Council will be accepting silent bids for the Tony’s Pizzeria building on Walnut Street.

Council agreed Wednesday night to seek bids for the building through a silent auction and open the bids on June 5. Money from the sale of the building will be used to help remodel the old Sky Bank building on Main Street for possible offices, which will require approximately $14,000.

In other business council considered a list of roadways for the 2013 chip and seal program estimated at $35,000, but Fiscal Officer Randy Chismar said the village only has approximately $10,000 for the program. Council agreed to discuss the matter in greater detail since the roadways will continue to get worse if they are not fixed.

Also at the meeting council approved the second reading of an ordinance changing High Street between Oak and Elm streets to one-way eastbound flow due to deterioration of the narrow roadway.

The EMS Department is seeking qualified EMTs and paramedics. Anyone interested should call 330-427-2310.

An Arbor Day celebration is scheduled for 11 a.m. May 11 at Wick Park.

The next regular council meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. May 1 at Village Hall, preceded by a Water/Sewer Committee meeting at 6 p.m.
