Goshen cops join Mahoning County seatbelt campaign

GOSHEN TOWNSHIP- The Goshen Police District is participating in a county wide seatbelt awareness campaign the next two weeks.

The department, in conjunction with the Sebring and Smith Township police departments, will participate in the Click It and Win campaign Monday through June 2 in which anyone stopped and found wearing their seatbelt will receive a coupon to Charlie Staples Restaurant in Youngstown. The coupons are good for 15 percent off any food purchase, excluding alcohol, through Aug. 31.

The coupons are part of this year’s Click It or Ticket campaign, Belts and BBQ, through Mahoning Safe Communities and Charlie Staples. The campaign is aimed at promoting seatbelt use to increase safety. “We’re trying to drastically reduce the number of preventable deaths and injuries that result from unbelted drivers and passengers involved in traffic crashes,” said Lt. Rob Wittensoldner. “When we stop someone, there’s going to be zero tolerance.”

The departments will be conducting a seatbelt survey June 6 on North Main Street at Sixth Street in Beloit.
