Leetonia school board accepts long-time secretary’s retirement

LEETONIA- The Leetonia school board Tuesday night accepted the retirement of a long-time administrative assistant.

The board accepted the retirement of high school secretary Ruth Miller effective June 30. She has spent 28 years in the district including 18 at the high school and previously Washingtonville Elementary.

“Ruth has been a valuable part of the Leetonia school district and it has been a pleasure to work with (her),” said schools Superintendent Rob Mehno, congratulating her on her retirement.

Board member John Rydarowicz, who worked at the school with Miller for several years, presented a framed photo of the school signed by the school board members and administration.

The board also accepted the retirement effective Oct. 1 of middle school intervention teacher Pat Troy, who has been with the district for 28 years.

In other business the board approved non-athletic supplemental contracts for the 2013-2014 school year for Randy Rodik, marching band director; Lindsey Jester, assistant marching band director; Tiffany Davis, third- and fourth-grade summer school position; Molly Coffee, academic challenge; Lori Newton-Smith, freshman class advisor; Marcia Bable, sophomore class advisor; Marcia Duko, junior class advisor; Chris Roth, senior class advisor; Laura Nappi, middle and high school detention; Laura Nappi, Marcia Duko, Debbie Bair, Cleone Smith and Rick Mulinix, Saturday detention; Laura Nappi, National Honor Society; Laura Nappi, SADD advisor; Chris Roth, high school student council; Debbie Bair, middle school student council; Mary Rice, Leetonia On-line coordinator; Cheryl Almy, district public relations coordinator; Trevor Greenfield, play director; and Chris Roth, publications/yearbook advisor.

Additionally the board approved athletic supplemental contracts for the 2013-2014 school year for Eric Whitmer, boys basketball varsity head coach; Kelly Paxson, girls basketball varsity head coach; Jeff Hammond, boys basketball varsity assistant coach; Diana Richardson, middle school cheerleading advisor; and Matt Altomare, weightroom head coach.

The board also approved, with Kurt Jennings and Tom Eastek voting no, supplemental football coaching contracts for the 2013-2014 school year for Fred Bruderly, seventh grade; Joe Bruderly, eighth grade; and Artie Altomare, Bill Altenhof, Nick Mango and Ron Graff, varsity assistants. The board also approved as volunteer football coaches Steve Work, Mike Frenger and Dan Votaw.

The board tabled a motion to approve a supplemental contract for the 2013-2014 school year for Jennifer Graff as high school cheerleader advisor.
