Salem man arrested after meth lab raid
SALEM – A Salem man is being held in Columbiana County jail after a search warrant was executed at 445 S. Broadway Ave. Thursday morning.
John Stoffer, 50, of 445 S. Broadway Ave., was arrested by the Columbiana County Drug Task Force after heroin, methamphetamine, chemicals used to make methampetamine and a rifle were seized at the residence at about 8:53 a.m.
He was arrested on an outstanding warrant for possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony and the DTF charged him with possession of chemicals to produce methamphetamines, a second-degree felony.
Salem Police blocked off South Broadway Avenue and Columbia Street while the fire department staged a vehicle at South Broadway Avenue.
The back door to the residence had been kicked in and was open.
Last February, a burned out Molotov cocktail was found in front of the residence, according to Lt. Don Beeson.
The Columbiana County Special Response Team and the Columbiana County sheriff and the Drug Enforcement Administration took part in the search.
