Columbiana school issue resolved
COLUMBIANA – A lawsuit is not being filed against the Columbiana School District, according to Superintendent Don Mook.
Mook said the family of a high school student has decided not to pursue legal action and the matter has been resolved.
The female student and her mother spoke with Mook and the board of education behind closed doors during a special meeting at the school on May 24.
Mook did not wish to comment recently on what was discussed at that meeting and also did not wish to reveal the student’s identity.
He did say no school employees’ jobs were affected as a result of the “issue” which has since been “resolved.”
“Ultimately I was able to correct problems that were occurring,” he said.
Mook then referred additional questions to the board. Board members Mark Hutson and Randy Guy did not return phone calls last week and a call to Kelly Witmer was not immediately returned Monday. Board members Jay Hertel and Tony Roncone could not be reached.
