Mansion Inn and Spa gains much acclaim
SEBRING-It took Lynne Biery nine years of work to transform the Sebring Mansion into an inn and spa. But it didn’t take long for her hard work to be recognized.
The Sebring Mansion Inn and Spa, a bed and breakfast located at 385 W. Ohio Ave., was recently filmed by the Professional Association of International Innkeepers (PAII) for a video as part of its “The Better Way to Stay” campaign. Earlier this year, the Mansion was also chosen as one of the Top Ten Romantic Inns by iLoveInns.com.
Biery, the owner and innkeeper, bought the Sebring Mansion in 2000 and opened for business in 2009. She said she was delighted that the Mansion has received so much attention this year, especially since they have only been in business for a few years.
“We are very excited by this media blitz,” said Biery, who said she has already noticed an increase in guests from farther locations.
PAII is an organization that informs and connects the innkeeper community. PAII’s grassroots campaign, “The Better Way To Stay,” encourages guests to experience inns or bed and breakfasts instead of hotels. Part of this campaign involves creating videos that promote bed and breakfasts and inns. The video of the Sebring Mansion will be featured on the group’s website. It is intended to attract more guests.
Biery is a member of PAII, and the group reached out to her to be featured in one of its videos this year. Biery said she believes PAII noticed the Sebring Mansion partly thanks to a recent award – being named one of the Top 10 Most Romantic Inns by iLoveInns.com.
“Some of (PAII’s) videos are geared towards a specific area, or the type of experience. We host a lot of honeymoon couples and anniversaries, so I think our video might have a romantic theme,” Biery said.
She said they were noticed by iLoveInns.com from recommendations that came from several guests of the Sebring Mansion.
“We do get a lot of wonderful thank you notes (from guests),” said Biery. “But we didn’t realize how much people appreciated it.”
After the Sebring Mansion was noticed by iLoveInns.com, Biery had to go through an interview process before being chosen.
“They wanted to know what kind of things we do to make a romantic weekend,” said Biery.
Biery said she believes the Sebring Mansion is a very romantic getaway. Couples can stay in rooms that include jacuzzis or champagne bubbler tubs and fireplaces. They can dine on a gourmet meal by a waterfall, lounge in the spa’s steam room, or relax in the therapy pool.
“Guests love being out in the stars with snowflakes falling down on them,” said Bierry of one of the popular romantic attractions, the therapy pool.
iLoveInns.com must have agreed. Bierry learned that the Sebring Mansion Inn and Spa had been chosen as one of the Top Ten Romantic Inns on Valentine’s Day of this year. iLoveInns.com is an online guide run by American Historic Inns, Inc., a group that publishes country inn and bed and breakfast guidebooks.
“You can’t buy that kind of good publicity,” said one of the Mansion’s innkeepers, Dery Zeppernick, of the award. “I think it will have a huge impact on future business.”
Biery said she is happy about the award, the video and the amount of recognition the Mansion has garnered in a few short years.
“We were really delighted, because we haven’t been in the business that long,” said Bierry. “I’m quite pleased with what we’ve accomplished.”
