Salem Twp. trustees to evaluate employee handbook at year end

FRANKLIN SQUARE – Salem Township trustees may be looking at changes in the new employee handbook at year end when the current book expires.

Fiscal Officer Cathy Wilms said trustees authorized her on Wednesday to consult with the county prosecutor’s office so the handbook could be reviewed for updates.

In other business, trustees received a consumer confidence report from the Buckeye Water District and approved a $7,514 insurance payment to the Ohio Township Risk Management Authority.

According to its website, OTARMA is a self-insurance pool endorsed by the Ohio Township Association.

The pool was formed in 1987 for the primary purpose of providing townships throughout Ohio with an alternative to traditional property and casualty insurance.

OTARMA is designed to provide townships with the coverages necessary to properly protect their assets.

Also, in other business, trustees received a $1,527 rebate from the Ohio Bureau of Worker’s compensation; and Trustee Chairman Ray Heddleson said the nuisance property on Golf Club Drive will be one of the first to be demolished by the county planning commission.

Also, Wilms said that as of Thursday evening Lisbon-Canfield Road was still flooded north of Franklin Square and the railroad underpass on Old state Route 558 had to be cleaned of washed-out debris three times.
