Damascus United Methodist to host annual rummage sale
DAMASCUS- The Damascus United Methodist Church will host its annual rummage sale this weekend.
The sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church located at 300 Valley Road. Sale items will be available for $4 a bag all day today and from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday. From noon to closing on Saturday sale items will be available for $1 a bag. Larger items will be priced separately.
The rummage sale features donations from the community including furniture, toys, household items, jewelry and clothing. There will also be a bake sale and lunch bar available.
According to event co-chairs Luci Knepper and Colleen Martsolf, this is the 17th year for the sale, the proceeds of which support the missions of the Damascus Methodist Women.
“Most of it stays local, but we also help out with other missions, too,” Knepper said.
The women described the proceeds as significant to the mission fund.
“We start with nothing and end with a lot,” Martsolf said. “Each year you see people who come back again and again.”
