West Branch board OKs personnel moves

BELOIT- The West Branch school board Thursday night approved multiple personnel moves before the start of the school year, including accepting a school psychologist intern for the first time.

The board hired Allison Krupko as a psychologist intern for the 2013-2014 school year through a State of Ohio School Psychology Intern Grant. It is the first time the district has had a school psychologist intern, Superintendent Dr. Scott Weingart said.

Krupko said she has earned a masters in school psychology and is working on her specialty degree. She will work a couple of supervised hours, then work independently the remainder of the year under interim Director of Special Services Alana Neimic and school psychologist Lindsey Szymanski.

In other business the board accepted the resignation of Sherri Kitzmiller as director of special services effective Aug. 5 and named as interim director Alana Niemiec, who resigned as school psychologist, effective Aug. 6. The board also hired Kathleen Sauline as professional development coordinator for the 2013 2014 school year; and accepted the resignation of Elizabeth Hall as special services secretary effective Aug. 30 and hired her as school nurse for the 2013-2014 school year.

Additionally the board accepted the resignations of Nikki McDorman as a school nurse effective Aug. 15, Sherry Smith as an educational aide effective Aug. 16, MaryJo Ferguson as an intervention specialist effective Aug. 19, Bonnie McClellan as freshman cheerleading advisor for the 2013-2014 school year and Stephanie Cope as a transportation aide effective Aug. 21.

The board also rehired retired teachers Terry Romigh, Linda Imhoff, Dale Morckel, Jane Morckel, Nancy Whinnery, Miranda Zadigian, Robert Offenbecher, Louis Sellaroli and Joseph Ginocchi; and Heather McMasters as an intervention specialist, Karen Elsner as special service consultant on an as needed basis, Kristen Bartolotta as a speech/language pathologist, Jennifer Anderson as an elementary teacher/intervention specialist, Daniel Hall as a long-term substitute for middle school math, Kay Hettler as a home instructor, Pam Douglas as head cook at Knox Elementary, Patricia Jarvis and Monica Palmer as aides, Danielle Kinsey as a 3 hour playground aide, Traci Courtney as a 2.5 hour playground aide and Lorie Bush, Diana Wallace, Jeffrey Rhodes, Brianna Kelecava, Alexis Schmidt and Betty George as a Title I tutors.

The board also approved supplemental contracts for the 2013-2014 school year for McKenzie Wallace, high school newspaper; Rachelle Ring, middle school Power of the Pen; Amy Criss, middle school student council; Penny DeShields, middle school yearbook; Jackie Lyons, middle school cheerleading; Candy Rockwell, freshmen cheerleading; Gary Martin, athletic safety coordinator; Lou Sellaroli, athletic safety coordinator; John Hancock, weight room supervisor (fall); D.J. Dota, weight room supervisor (winter); and Mike Sigler, weight room supervisor (spring).

The next regular board meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Sept. 26 in the high school media center.
