Angie Beck named to school board
The board of education named Angie Beck to fill the board position vacated by Nick Bush during a special meeting Friday morning.
The vote was unanimous. Beck was one of six candidates who wanted to fill Bush’s unexpired four-year term.
She was appointed and administered the oath of office during the meeting.
Beck is paralegal and office manager for attorney Brian Macala in Salem. She could not be reached for comment.
Board President Andrew Null said the board was very happy with the “great group” of candidates who applied.
School board members are non-partisan and appointing a replacement when there is a mid-term vacancy falls to the remaining board members.
From Bush’s resignation date of Aug. 13, the board had 30 days to fill the vacancy.
Null said there are two years and three months on Bush’s term that concludes on Dec. 31, 2015. Board members are paid $125 per meeting with compensation capped at 20 per year.
The board interviewed the six candidates on Aug. 28 after setting an Aug. 23 deadline for submitting letters of interest.
