Bike show planned at Heritage Inn

SALEM – A bike show commemorating Deb “Stretch” and Dave Grimes is set for 6 p.m., Sept. 21 at the Heritage Inn at 333 W. 4th St.

This is the 14th year that Dwain Kale has organized the event which commemorates Deb and Dave Grimes, two popular people in the biker community who died within years of each other.

The event has benefited the Hospice of the Valley in past years and Kale said for this year’s event all proceeds will go to the Salem Community Food Pantry because of the need.

Kale said the Stretch and Dave Bike Show has judged classes that will include American, Japanese and English motorcycles with first through third place trophies awarded in stock and custom.

There will be six categories for bikes and trophies awarded for best of show, people’s choice, along with the stock and for custom motorcycle awards.

There are three hand-made trophies in the “rat bike” category, Kale said.

The cost is $10 per person and the event begins at 11 a.m. with voting running until 5 p.m. with the bike show starting at 6 p.m.

The T.B.S. (Tyrone Blues Sinsation: from the Medina area will be on stage at 8 p.m. and there will be bike games, raffles and food.

The show is sponsored in part by Low Brow Customs.

Damon Mahoney is providing a large cooker and turkey will be part of the menu.

Kale said the event will be held rain or shine.
