Working toward a cure
Buckeye Elementary student Olivia Hoffman of Salem gets some assistance from her mother, Kim, as she tries to spell a word with her scrabble squares at the Curing Retinal Blindness Foundation Scrabble Run and Carnival for a Cure held Sunday at Waterworth Memorial Park in Salem. Olivia’s family and friends organized the event to raise money for degenerative retinal disease research. The 8-year-old was diagnosed with the rare CRB1 version of the disease at age 4 and could face possible blindness. To learn more, check her website at www.eyesforolivia.org.
