Perry trustees remind on leaves

PERRY TWP. – Township trustees met briefly Monday, issuing reminders to residents about trick-or-treat hours from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday and the annual leaf pickup which begins Nov. 4.

Crews will start picking up bagged leaves on the north side of the township for two weeks, then move to the south side on Nov. 18 for another two weeks. State Street serves as the dividing line between north and south.

Leaves must be secured in bags and placed on the curb lawn near the street for pickup, with bags of a size that can be lifted into a truck by one person. Sticks and twigs will be picked up separately and must be bundled. Anyone with questions can call the Perry Township Road Department at 330-337-7266.

In other business, trustees approved a routine resolution to participate in the state purchasing program for 2013-2014. They also approved an additional appropriation of $50,000 into the general fund to meet expenses and agreed to pay the police chief’s salary from the general fund for the rest of the year.

Fiscal Officer Susan Johnston explained that she tends to estimate revenue low and expenses high when she’s preparing the budget and was conservative this year. The additional appropriation comes from revenue not appropriated yet.

For October so far, five zoning permits have been issued.
