Beloit teen arrested for assault in Goshen cop

GOSHEN TOWNSHIP- A medical emergency at a New Year’s Eve party in Beloit resulted in a teen being charged with assault on a police officer.

Tryston M. Steed, 17, 13971 Oak Ave., Beloit, was charged with a fourth-degree felony assault and misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest, underage consumption and sale of liquor to an underage person after police responded with Beloit first responders to a report of an unconscious juvenile, possible from drug overdose, at an underage party at Steed’s home at 2:45 a.m. Wednesday.

According to the police report, officers David Eck and Isaiah Thomas responded to the incident. Eck was reportedly met at the door by an uncooperative and argumentative Steed, who smelled strongly of alcohol. Steed then allegedly began approaching Beloit EMS personnel in an aggressive manner upon seeing them, and pulled away aggressively when stopped by Eck. After being handcuffed, Steed began fighting with officers, struggling on multiple occasions to escape officers, before eventually being secured in the rear of a cruiser.

Steed was eventually taken to St. Elizabeth’s Health Center for evaluation at the request of the juvenile justice center, found to be okay and returned to the facility.

Officers then determined that they had been called for a 15-year-old Salem male who had suffered a seizure. He was conscious and was transported to the Alliance hospital for treatment. Other individuals at the party cited for underage consumption were Cade Arden Neiser, 19, 11100 Calla Road, Salem; Richard Earl Dinger III, 18, 629 Garfield Ave., Alliance; Kahliel Evan Fletcher, 17, 11842 Webb Ave., Alliance; and Grayson Peggy Anderson, 17, 1616 Valley Road, Salem.
