Calendar to raise funds for county K-9 teams

CALCUTTA – A new 2014 calendar featuring the county’s six K-9 teams was unveiled this week during a training session at the Peter Metrovich Community Room here.

A joint effort between the K-9 officers, River Valley Health Partners/East Liverpool City Hospital and Legacy Studio by Jimmy Joe Savage, the calendar features action photos and montages of the various teams.

Shown are the K-9 teams of East Liverpool Patrolman Chad Tatgenhorst and Ivo; East Palestine Sgt. Don Johnson and Toney; county Sheriff’s Office Deputy Allan Young and Jesy; St. Clair Township Patrolman Chris Davis and Axel; Wellsville Patrolman Joe Saraniti and Chief; and Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation Agent Kim Nusser and Bo.

Work began in November on the calendars, which are now available for sale to the public for $5 each. All proceeds from the sales will be divided among the six K-9 teams for the purchase of equipment.

There are 1,000 calendars available, according to hospital communications Director Brian Allen.

In addition to being available from each K-9 handler, the calendars can be purchased at the East Liverpool, East Palestine, St. Clair Township and Wellsville police departments; the county sheriff’s department at both the civil and criminal offices; Wellsville Fire Department; Ann’s Superette in Glenmoor; Chef Ray’s and Tim Horton’s in Calcutta; East Palestine Village Hall; Bea’s Insurance Agency and Endia Wisser Photography, both in East Palestine; and at the Humane Society of Columbiana County in Salem.

PC Doctors on Fifth Street in East Liverpool is also selling the calendars and will donate an additional $1 to the K-9 teams for each calendar sold at the store.
