Glass door damaged twice at Village IGA

Leetonia Police Chief John Soldano said no entry was made, but twice now someone has broken the glass door at the Village IGA this past week. Both incidents were reported by a newspaper delivery driver, with the first one at 2:47 a.m. Monday when someone apparently shattered the glass with a rock. The second incident was reported at 3:11 a.m. Saturday. “Both times nobody gained entry into the store. We’re just trying to figure out what’s going on,” Soldano said. An officer had driven through the parking lot at 2:30 a.m. Saturday and everything appeared fine at that time. If anyone has any information about the incidents, they should call the department at 330-427-6711. Soldano said anonymous tips will be welcomed. Shown is Leetonia Police Officer Dan Soules examining the damage. He followed tracks as far as possible around a clothing drop box and along the side of the Iron Rails Cafe. The store is located at 30 Hazel St. (Salem News photos by Patti Schaeffer)
