Man seeking sex with girl, 11, arrested

SEBRING – An Alliance man was arrested for importuning and soliciting an adolescent girl by Sebring police on Tuesday.

Dustin J. Rowley, 25, 1023 S. Seneca Ave., was charged after he allegedly tried to meet an 11-year-old girl for sex.

Police launched a week-long undercover investigation after a family member advised them on Dec. 22.

Rowley was arraigned before Judge Diane Vetorri in Mahoning County Area Court No. 3 in Sebring on Thursday and pleaded not guilty.

Recognizance bond was set at $75,000 with house arrest and he is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing at 11:30 a.m., Jan. 9 before Vetorri.

According to police, a man was messaging the girl on Facebook, asking her to meet with him.

Police said the girl told Rowley she was 11-years-old and Rowley allegedly replied that he was 25.

Using the girl’s Facebook account an officer made contact with the suspect on Dec. 27 and the suspect agreed to meet in front of a trailer park.

Two officers watched him exit the house but he didn’t come to the front.

According to police, contact was subsequently made with the suspect by computer messaging and he wanted to meet and have sex.

Police arranged for a decoy who was provided with a photo of the suspect and she was advised to get a good look at him.

At approximately 7:10 p.m. Tuesday, the decoy was transported to the trailer park at 1005 Lake Park Blvd., Lot 33, dropped off and police stood by.

When the suspect came to the door, the decoy alerted police by saying, “it’s him,” and ran off. Police then ordered the man out of the trailer and he was arrested for importuning and soliciting.

Police received consent to search the residence and one computer and other items of evidence were taken.

Importuning by telecommunication device is a second-degree felony.
