United OKs personnel moves
HANOVERTON- The United school board approved several personnel moves at its regular meeting Wednesday night.
The board accepted the resignation of Mary Ann Prosko, junior and senior high science teacher, effective Jan. 29 after 10 years with the district. The board had approved a three-week unpaid leave of absence for Prosko to be with her daughter, who is in the military and was giving birth, but did not approve her request for a longer absence. The board hired Kevin Phillips of Louisville to replace Prosko for the remainder of the school year.
The board also accepted the supplemental resignation of girls soccer coach Raymond O’Flaherty and granted supplemental coaching contracts to Christine Grace, head junior high girls track; Luke Williams, head junior high boys track; and Rob Clunen, assistant junior high boys track. The board also approved as volunteer coaches Chris Kadvan, varsity baseball; Anthony Hillyer, wrestling; and Nicole Mathias, Kathy McCartney and Melissa Millican, varsity softball.
In other business the board approved the 2014-2015 academic calendar with first day for students Aug. 27, last day June 3 and graduation May 24.
The board also agreed to continue open enrollment for 2014-2015. This year the district accepted 130 students while 78 attended outside districts.
Additionally the board accepted a $300 donation for the principal’s account from various service groups for cyber-bullying assembly and honored varsity girls track coach Nancy Miller for being recognized as the 2013 Mideast Sectional Coach of the Year for the Sport of Girls Track & Field.
The next regular board meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. March 19 in the high school library.
