Coaching coaching approvals among Leetonia BOE actions
LEETONIA-The Leetonia school board Thursday night approved multiple coaching contracts for next school year.
The board non-renewed all supplemental contracts held during the 2013-2014 school year then approved the following supplemental coaching contracts for next year: Ryan Dowling, soccer; Dave Adams, cross country; Jamie Kegelmyer, assistant baseball; Ron Voitus, volleyball; John McIlduff, athletic director and assistant softball; Marcia Duko, assistant athletic director; and James DeJane, golf. The board also approved Cody Stokes as a volunteer baseball coach for the remainder of this school year.
In other business the board approved a new 15-year Enterprise Zone Agreement with Pennex Aluminum Company LLC in the Leetonia Trade Park similar to the current agreement which allows for a 100 percent tax abatement then the company pays 25 percent of the taxes directly to the school. The company is undertaking a $33 million expansion that is projected to create 65 new jobs.
The board accepted donations totaling $400 to the Perkins/Totora Scholarship, $250 to the football program in honor of Pat Mango, $122.25 from Michele and Dan Votaw for the middle school spelling bee materials and $400 from Damon Industries to the N.O.S. B. activity fund.
Also at the meeting the board approved the 2014-2015 school calendar with the first day of classes on Aug. 25, last day May 28 and graduation May 24; open enrollment application and timeline from April 1 through Aug. 22 for the next school year; and use of facilities to the Leetonia and Washingtonville baseball and softball for open gym and games, and the Leetonia Masons for their annual Easter egg hunt April 12.
The next regular board meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. March 20 in Room 20 of the K-12 campus.
