Goshen cops charge man with rape of girl

GOSHEN TWP. – A Green Township man is facing a first-degree felony for the alleged rape of a 9-year-old girl.

Robert A. Seman, 45, 6468 Calla Road, Canfield, was arrested on the charge at 3 a.m. Saturday after turning himself in to Goshen police on the warrant issued after the girl’s mother reported to Cpl. Nick Brent on March 10 that the girl had alleged Seman engaged in sexual conduct with her for several years.

According to a statement issued by the Goshen Police District, Mahoning County Children Services conducted an interview with the victim at the Children’s Advocacy Center. Following the interview, Seman’s 2-year-old daughter was removed from the home and placed with family members, and the prosecutor’s office authorized the rape charge.

Officers attempted to serve the warrant on Seman at his home on Friday afternoon, but he was not home. He was later contacted by telephone and agreed to turn himself in.

Seman is scheduled for arraignment at 11 a.m. Thursday in Sebring.

In 2011 Seman was sentenced to five years probation and fined $7,500 after pleading guilty to felony charges of drug trafficking, theft and robbery, according to online court dockets.
