New times for tire drop off, collection
SALEM – New times have been announced for a tire collection event for city residents on May 9 and a large item drop-off event for city and Perry Township residents on May 16 and 17.
City Service/Safety Director Ken Kenst said the new times for the tire collection will be 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 9 in the municipal lot at East Pershing Street and South Lundy Avenue, restricted to city residents only.
The township and city will team up for the large item drop-off event in that same parking lot from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 16 and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 17. The event is funded through CCH Environmental, formerly known as the Carroll Columbiana Harrison Solid Waste District.
Two 40-yard dumpsters are being provided by CCH. Large items, such as large appliances, furniture and scrap metal, will be accepted, but there will be no electronics accepted. That means no televisions or computers or other electronics will be accepted.
Kenst made a point of saying that large appliances, including those with freon, such as refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners, can be dropped off at the event.
