Boutique opens in Quaker Place

SALEM – It’s new in town and one of the first new businesses located in the Little Shops at Quaker Place at 645 E. State St. downtown.

Julie Rinko said opening Finer Things Boutique, a women’s apparel and gift shop, “is exciting … it’s exciting to be one of the first businesses to be part of bringing downtown Salem back to life.”

A 1983 Boardman High School graduate, Rinko has over 33 years in women’s apparel and said the Finer Things Boutique was in the making for 30 of those years.

Rinko, who calls herself a “proprietress,” worked at Tempo Fashions in the Boardman Plaza and Hornes in the Southern Park Mall in the handbag department and at several other women’s apparel stores.

“I guess I realized this was what I wanted to do when I got my first job in retail clothing,” she said, while explaining there were breaks in her work to raise three children and help with her husband Job’s lawn care business.

Rink calls Finer Things Boutique “affordable upscale.”

She explained, “I’m really targeting anyone … I have a lot of styles older women will like … it’s for all women with some trendier dresses for the younger set, but then it goes to the more traditional styles.”

“There’s something for everybody,” she said.

Finer Things Boutique is on Facebook and there is a front and back entrance.

“I’m two doors up from Hofmeister Realty, across from Home Savings and just before Mike’s Penn Avenue Grille (same side of street),” Rinko said and there is plenty of parking in the back of the building next to Huntington Bank.

“You will see my purple ‘Finer Things’ sign on the building,” she said, adding that a lighted sign is planned for the store front.

Hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The store is closed on Sunday and Monday.

Rinko and her husband live in Salem and have three children, Ryan, 23, Lexi, 13, and Hailey, 9.
