Leetonia BOE OKs personnel changes

LEETONIA- The Leetonia school board Thursday night approved several personnel moves for the 2014-2015 school year.

The board approved a continuing teaching contract for Deirdre Sadler; one-year limited teaching contracts for Lori Deem, Mary Jo Arditi, Kathy Buck, Trevor Greenfield and Megan Torreance; two-year limited teaching contracts for Chris Roth, Lisa Besozzi, Melanie Stelts and Kimberly Saculla; and a two-year limited classified contract for Shannon Morrow.

The board also approved supplemental contracts for 2014-2015 for Joseph Bruderly, home instruction tutor; Jeff Hammond, boys JV basketball; Ed Ridgeway, Keith Drewnoski and Brian Palmer, assistant football; Cindy Jones, seventh-grade volleyball; Walter Anchors, eighth-grade volleyball; Diana Richardson, junior high cheer; Lindsey Jester, marching band assistant; Jennifer Graff, high school cheer football; Chelsie Sauerwein, high school cheer basketball; Marcia Duko, high school detention; Debbie Bair middle school detention; Debbie Bair, Cleone Smith and Marcia Duko, Saturday school monitor; Mary Rice, Leetonia Online coordinator; Cleone Smith, national honor society; Chris Roth, publications and yearbook; Chris Roth, high school student council; Debbie Bair, middle school student council; Cheryl Almy, district public relations coordinator; Molly Coffee, academic challenge team advisor; Randall Rodik, marching band; and Chris Roth, senior class advisor.

Additionally the board accepted the retirement effective June 1 of computer science teacher Louis Zitello, who has been with the district for 16 years.

In other business the board approved the five-year financial forecast submitted by Treasurer Jennifer Coldsnow which shows a positive cash balance through fiscal year 2017 before dipping to a $158,000 deficit in 2018. The district is projected to continue enter deficit spending in fiscal year 2016 when expenditures are expected to exceed revenue by $261,976.

The board also approved the Nutrition Group as the district’s Food Service Management Company (FSMC) for the 2014-2015 school year, with a possibility of up to four one-year renewals; approved a 10 cent increase in cafeteria prices for the 2014-2015 school year in order to meet federal guidelines; and approved a contract for services with the Columbiana County Educational Service Center for the 2014-2015 school year for a speech pathologist for $76,718.

The board also accepted donations of $50 from the Leetonia Mason’s for the Annual Easter Egg Hunt, $462.50 from the Leetonia PTO to the Elementary Principal’s Account and $25 from the Joe Williams Post 131 for the Jacquelyn Batcha Scholarship Fund.

The next regular board meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. June 26 in Room 20 of the K-12 campus.
