Johnson re-relected County GOP Chairman

LISBON – David W. Johnson was re-elected to another four-year term as County Republican Chairman during the recent reorganization meeting of the County Republican Central Committee.

Adam Booth was re-elected vice chairman. Monica Robb was re-elected secretary treasurer. The Committee reorganizes every four years.

Johnson was first elected to his post in 1989. He has held this position ever since for all but one term, beginning in 2002, during which he stepped aside for business reasons. He is CEO of Summitville Tiles, Inc.

Additionally, Johnson was reelected in the May Primary Election for another term as 33 District Republican state committeeman, representing Columbiana and Mahoning Counties. He has held this position since 1998.

Johnson expressed his appreciation for the Party’s continued support.

“It has been an honor to serve in this capacity, but especially rewarding to have played a role in helping to recruit and elect so many bright, capable Republicans to public office in this county,” he said.

Johnson noted that his most important immediate goal, other than to elect this year’s cycle of candidates, is to raise funds sufficient to purchase the Dorance Building in downtown Lisbon, which for 25 years has housed the Republican Party headquarters.

When it was recently announced that the building would be sold, Johnson felt that the party headquarters ought to remain in place, permanently. He proposed and the central committee passed a resolution authorizing Johnson to transact the purchase of the building.
