Kids craft program offered Saturday

As part of the Summer Outdoor Arts & Crafts Show Saturday in Centennial Park a kids craft program will be held. It will be sponsored by Carousel Creations from Austintown. Children between 4 to 14 years old are invited to stop by and paint their own “corkie” to take home with them. Corkies are ceramic figures that come in a variety of styles including sports, Holly Hobby, international, circus train, gingerbread (boy, girl, house), Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Corkies come with a string for hanging but a magnet can be provided for those wishing to put them on the fridge. The program is free of charge and includes all the supplies needed. The Arts & Crafts show will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with lunch available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be live alpacas at the show. There will also be a 50/50 raffle with the winner being drawn at 4:30 p.m. The winner does not need to be present to win. There are still spaces available for anyone wishing to set up a table. Call the Salem Parks and Recreation Dept. at 330-332-5512 for more information. Shown above, holding corkies are, from left, Sadie Cook, Aliyah Baddeley, Trevor Smith and Ethan Sielaff.
