County land bank approved
LISBON – During a brief meeting Wednesday, Columbiana County commissioners formally approved a resolution approving an agreement with the new county land bank, which will be called the Columbiana County Land Reutilization Corporation.
The resolution states it authorizes the group to act as the county’s agency for reclamation, rehabilitation and reutilizatioin of vacant, abandoned, tax-foreclosed and other real property in the county. Federal demolition funding is available and the deadline to seek it is July 31.
The plan is to acquire and demolish blighted properties in the county, both businesses and homes, especially those in tax foreclosure. The new board plans to hold an organizational meeting at 10 a.m. Friday.
The commissioners also approved some changes to the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board.
The board appointed Bonnie Landsberger-Crook to replace Nancy Francis, who completed her second four-year term. The board also appointed Jack Hile for the remainder of Mike Dyer’s term and accepted Dyer’s resignation.
Commissioners approved the appointment of Jessica Oates to replace Allen Haueter, who is also the chief deputy in the sheriff’s office, and accepted his resignation from the MHRS board. Finally, the board reappointed Pamela Puorro, who completed her first four-year term and agreed to a second four-year term.
