Police resort to taser on aggressive man wielding knife

SALEM – A man with a knife was tased by police when he refused to drop it early Sunday morning.

Police arrested Eduardo Mateo of 647 Ohio Ave. and charged him with disorderly conduct and obstructing official business after responding to a call regarding an aggressive intoxicated man in the 600 block of Ohio Avenue.

When police arrived at 4:27 a.m. they were advised he had knife. Upon entering the residence an officer observed a large knife in his hand. He appeared to be in an argument with another man, later found to be his father.

Police said he was ordered to drop the knife numerous times before he was tased.

Police also found an outstanding warrant on him from Columbiana County for failure to appear and he was taken to the county jail.
