West Branch board OKs new girls soccer coach
BELOIT- The West Branch school board has approved a change of girls soccer head coach.
The board on Thursday accepted the resignation of Todd McLaughlin as girls’ soccer coach and approved McKenzie Wallace to the position. McLaughlin also resigned as high school social studies teacher effective June 30.
In other moves the board granted a two-year contract to Alana Niemiec as director of special services and hired Stephanie White as a psychologist, Emily Herman as a guidance counselor, Hannah Dunn and Jackie Mabry as a preschool aides, Monica Palmer as an aide and Tricia Barkee as an intervention specialist.
The board also approved Jenessa Woods as a substitute teacher and/or substitute aide for Success by Six on an as needed basis during 2014 summer and permitted Treasurer Dan Telzrow to carry forward unused vacation days from the 2013-2014 school year to the 2014-2015 school year.
Also at the meeting the board accepted gifts and donations of $39 anonymous to the Damascus PSSF, $500 from Stratton Chevrolet for Right to Read, $66 from Zep’s Pizza for a military Welcome Home reception, $500 anonymous to girls basketball (custodial charges for AAU), $199 from Smith Landscaping for weed control on the middle school football practice field, $4,600 from the middle school PIE for new equipment, $6,500 from the West Branch Athletic Boosters for football uniforms, $10,000 from the George D. Worth American Legion for its scholarship and $5,000 from the American Legion Auxiliary for its scholarship.
The next regular board meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. July 31 at the high school.
