Educational leadership going to head of class at West Branch
BELOIT- The leadership teams at West Branch Local Schools will make a concerted effort this year to keep the school board informed of educational goals and achievements.
Members of the District Leadership Team attended the board meeting Thursday night to update the board on the Ohio Improvement Process (OIP) Team Relationships, showing the shared accountability of the District Leadership Team (DLT) with the Building Leadership and Teacher Based teams.
The District Leadership Team identifies specific data and tools to collect information from the other teams as evidence of monitoring progress. The BLT monitors the TBTs, and the TBTs report data to the BLT. The BLT reports progress to the DLT.
Teams from each building will present to the board at each meeting throughout the school year. The teachers will also notably use two-hour delays for waiver days instead of the typical full-day so that students will be in the classroom.
In other business the board approved agreements with the Village of Beloit for ambulance service for the fall season at the rate of $75 per game and with Dr. Dwaine Everett, Everett Health Center Inc., for athletic safety coverage at $1,500, both at no change from last year.
The board also accepted donations for $4,989.50 from the WB Athletic Boosters for Middle School Football, $500 from WB Youth Wrestling for a wrestling mat and $229 in various services from Smith Landscpaing for the district.
Additionally the board purchased a 72-passenger school bus chassis and body from Myers Equipment Corporation at a base bid price of $77,877; and named board members Eric Glista as delegate and Mikki Kanagy as alternate for the OSBA Capital Conference.
Also at the meeting Craig Wade of Winona Road questioned the breakdown of the $888.10 bill for the West Branch Levy Committee for use of facilities in the lead up to the May ballot. Schools Superintendent Dr. Scott Weingart said he did not have the information on hand but suggested anyone seeking the information should make a public records request.
The next regular board meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Sept. 25 in the high school library.
