Holiday Inn Express going up

The western walls on the Holiday Inn Express were being assembled Wednesday by employees of Morgan Construction from Chippewa, Pa., according to developer Rod Herron who expects the rough construction on the four-story building to be completed in about six weeks. Rain and an issue regarding rebar have delayed the building. The 70-room, $4 million building on Cunningham Road is expected to open this fall and will be the only hotel in Salem and the first in about five years. A banquet facility is planned to go in next to the hotel. (Salem News photo by Larry Shields)
