Moving wall coming to County Fairgrounds

The Moving Wall will be at the Columbiana County Fairgrounds in Lisbon from Sept. 11-15. The wall is a half-size replica of The Vietnam Wall in Washington, D.C.. It lists the names of over 58,000 who died during that war including 36 military personnel from our county. Opening ceremonies are scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 12.

A “Ceremony of Laying of the Roses” for each name of local residents listed on the Moving Wall will be held. Family members wishing to participate in the ceremony are asked to contact Director Sharen Cope at 330-222-1914 by Sept. 8. At 1p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 14 over 60 quilts and afghans in patriotic colors crafted by county fair exhibitors will be presented to local veterans who submitted their names. Presentation of the quilts and afghans will be held in the Arts & Crafts Building with a pot luck dinner to follow. Reservations for the dinner are needed and may be made by calling Cope at 330-222-1914.
