Green Township voters will determine fate of replacement levy for current expenses

GREENFORD — Green Township voters will see a 1.5 mill replacement levy for current expenses on the Nov. 8 ballot .

A .70 mill issue will expire and be replaced by the 1.5 mill a tax for the benefit of Green Township, including the village of Washingtonville.

The rate will not exceed 1.5 mills for each $1 of valuation, which amounts to $0.15 for each $100 of valuation, for five years, commencing in 2016 and first due in calendar year 2017.

Fiscal Officer Randy Chismar said the replacement will bring in the same amount as amounts.

The .70 mill levy was approved in 1986 and never replaced.
