West Township road levy
Staff Reports
EAST ROCHESTER — West Township trustees are asking voters in the Nov. 8 election to renew a 3-mill road levy.
First passed in 2012, the levy is apparently being put on the ballot one year before it expires, which would give trustees a couple more chances to get it renewed should voters say no.
The 3-mill levy runs for five years, generates $174,400 annually and costs the owner of a $100,000 home $87 a year in property taxes. There is a second road levy in the amount of 1 mill, which was renewed by voters in 2015, and it generates $58,200 a year.
The only other source of township funding for roads is 2.2-mills in unvoted inside millage received by the township and it generates $132,500 per year, according to the Columbiana County Auditor’s Office.
