New Waterford dredging

Village Administrator Jason Gorby and village crews have been dredging the village park pond for the past week. Gorby said it will help keep excessive algae growth, which covered a large part of the pond last year, down. Fiscal Officer Dave Slagle, left, and former village Fire Chief Harry Wilson, inspected the work on Monday. Gorby said the silt that was pulled from the pond will be recycled in other areas of the village and the pond will be reseeded with grass and back to its original condition soon. It will also be restocked with fish, he said. The village holds an annual Fourth of July fishing tournament at the pond. (Salem News photo by Larry Shields)
