Warren man, 18, arrested after drug buy in Salem

SALEM

SALEM — A six-month investigation culminated in the arrest of a Warren man after a drug buy of heroin and crack cocaine Wednesday afternoon in a West State Street parking lot near Dunkin’ Donuts.

Rha Dante Anthony Hudson, 18, was taken into custody and charged with two counts of trafficking in drugs, a felony of the fifth degree and the fourth degree, a Columbiana County Drug Task Force press release said.

He had more than $950 cash on him at the time of the arrest.

The release said an agent conducted a hand over hand purchase of 3 grams of heroin and 2 grams of crack cocaine from Hudson, then Salem Police officers and DTF agents stopped him and made the arrest.

K-9 Simon assisted at the scene, a Salem Police report said. The incident report put the time at 12:40 p.m. at 809 W. State St., the former location of Yard Bark, next to Dunkin’ Donuts.

Detective Lt. Brian McLaughlin of the county Sheriff’s Office and director of the DTF said agents have been making buys from the same guy from different spots on the west side of the city. He declined to reveal the other locations, but said the spot for the buy Wednesday was chosen by Hudson. McLaughlin said it wasn’t the first time there.

Further charges are pending against Hudson related to the other buys. McLaughlin said a woman who drove Hudson to the site has charges pending against her for possession of drugs.
