Virginia fugitive nabbed in Columbiana
COLUMBIANA — A man on the run from the law in Virginia for drug charges was taken into custody in Columbiana on Tuesday.
Columbiana Detective Wade Boley said that Jeffrey Sneath, 44, of Virginia, was picked up by police at a car dealership in the city that morning.
Sneath was not breaking any laws at the dealership and was taken into custody without any issues, Boley said.
The local department received a call around 8:12 a.m. from the Fairfax County Police Department/FBI Fugitive Track and Apprehensive Team Violent Crimes Task Force out of Virginia, he added.
“We received information that a fugitive from justice they had been tracking, identified as Jeffrey Sneath, was in the area along state Route 14 and Lucretia Drive,” he said.
The Fairfax department asked for assistance with picking Sneath up on the warrant that was filed in Fairfax County on Feb. 24 after he failed to appear on a charge of distribution of a controlled substance.
Boley said Sneath was in a white vehicle in the parking lot of the business when police arrived. The department received help from Beaver Township police and county sheriff’s office.
Sneath was charged at the scene with being a fugitive from justice and taken to the Columbiana County Jail where he is awaiting extradition.
