Career Center transfers funds

LISBON — The county Career and Technical Center board took care of a number of routine items at this week’s meeting, including transferring funding to cover the cost of a renovation project currently underway.
The board agreed to transfer $350,000 from the general fund to help pay for the $1.08 million renovation project, which includes upgrades to classrooms, the front entrance and the school’s HVAC system.
In other action, the board:
— Renewed its contract with Holloway Insurance of Lisbon for liability coverage, at a combined cost of $31,147.
— Hired William Jones of Lisbon as a new science teacher, replacing Jamie Stacy, who is the new veterinarian technician instructor. Stacy is filling a position that came open due to a retirement.
— Hired Miranda Handley as summer custodian not to exceed 500 hours.
— Adopted student meal prices for the upcoming school year, $1.25 for breakfast and $2.55 for lunch. The prices are the same as last year.
— Accepted the donation of a 2003 PT Cruiser to the auto tech program from Jeff Hatchner of Berlin Center.
— Agreed to continue taking advantage of the state cooperative purchasing program by going through the Ohio Mideastern Regional Education Service Agency. The service is free.
